My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Summary (from Goodreads): The sixth and final book in the New York Times bestselling seriesThe Secrets of the Nicholas Flamel—The Enchantress
The two that are one must become the one that is all. One to save the world, one to destroy it.
Nicholas and Perenelle Flamel have one day left to live, and one job left to do. They must defend San Francisco. The monsters gathered on Alcatraz Island have been released and are heading toward the city. If they are not stopped, they will destroy everyone and everything in their path.
But even with the help of two of the greatest warriors from history and myth, will the Sorceress and the legendary Alchemyst be able to defend the city? Or is it the beginning of the end of the human race?
Sophie and Josh Newman traveled ten thousand years into the past to Danu Talis when they followed Dr. John Dee and Virginia Dare. And it’s on this legendary island that the battle for the world begins and ends.
Scathach, Prometheus, Palamedes, Shakespeare, Saint-Germain, and Joan of Arc are also on the island. And no one is sure what—or who—the twins will be fighting for.
Today the battle for Danu Talis will be won or lost. But will the twins of legend stand together? Or will they stand apart — one to save the world and one to destroy it?
My Summary: In this sixth and final installment, the fate of the world will be decided by the twins of legend.
Sophie and Josh have been transported back to Danu Talis, greeted by two Elder beings who claim to be their parents. And their 'parents' have plans for them - big plans that've been ten thousand years in the making. But what will the twins of legend do? Follow their parents orders and do as they're told, or follow their hearts?
My Thoughts: I fell in love with this series four years ago and never looked back. Everything about it drew me in, and the amazing writing and complex plot kept me hooked from start to finish. I can honestly say without a hint of doubt that this is one of my all-time favourite series.
There's not much I can say without giving much away - and trust me, if you haven't read this installment yet, you want to go into it without knowing anything ahead of time - but I was extremely pleased with the way Mr. Scott ended everything (I mean, I cried and everything, but I knew it was for the best). Every question I had was answered, and all the loose ends from the other books were, in my opinion, tied up quite nicely.
Trust me when I say you will not be disappointed with the way this amazing series ends.
Final Thoughts: I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fantasy novels - or anyone who's looking for a well-written, complex and original YA series.
