My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Summary (from Goodreads)It’s the end of the world. Six students have taken cover in Cortege High but shelter is little comfort when the dead outside won’t stop pounding on the doors. One bite is all it takes to kill a person and bring them back as a monstrous version of their former self.

To Sloane Price, that doesn’t sound so bad. Six months ago,
her world collapsed and since then, she’s failed to find a reason to keep going. Now seems like the perfect time to give up. As Sloane eagerly waits for the barricades to fall, she’s forced to witness the apocalypse through the eyes of five people who actually want to live.

But as the days crawl by, the motivations for survival change in startling ways and soon the group’s fate is determined less and less by what’s happening outside and more and more by the unpredictable and violent bids for life—and death—inside.

When everything is gone, what do
you hold on to?

My Summary
: Nobody saw it coming - the end of the world. But the dead appeared, and Sloane's world was thrown into chaos. After escaping a crumbling community center and joining forces with a few of her fellow classmates, Sloane realizes that the fight for survival doesn't always happen between you and the enemy - sometimes the biggest threats to your life come from people who are on your side.

My Thoughts
: Along with every other fan of Courtney Summers, I have been eagerly awaiting this book for quite a while. Miss Summers definitely has a way with words - I was sucked in by the first few pages, and I couldn't put it down until I was done a few hours later. This book was so different from any other zombie book I've ever read - the author really managed to capture not only the emotional side of each character, but Sloane's struggle to deal with her past as well. I really found myself getting attached to the characters, and the atmosphere of the entire novel was perfect.

Final Thoughts
: I definitely recommend you get yourself a copy of This is Not a Test as soon as possible! It's a great read, and just the thing if you're looking for something new and refreshing.
